Japan easing of visa restrictions for Chinese tourists

The Japanese government intends to ease visa requirements for tourists from China. This is a step in the relations between the two countries. Beijing has recently restored visa-free travel for short-term Japanese tourists. This allows such visitors to stay in China for up to 30 days, which contributes to the development of tourism and trade.

This policy has been suspended since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Japan is considering several options to simplify the visa process. In particular, it is proposed to make it easier for applicants to obtain multiple-entry visas valid for a certain period of time. Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya may visit China in the near future to discuss these issues with his counterpart Wang Yi.

If the decision to change the visa is made before his arrival, then most likely this will become a topic of conversation. Currently, Chinese citizens need to submit various documents to obtain a tourist visa. This includes proof of their annual income and detailed information about their assets, which complicates the application process.
