On Monday, the Metropolitan Police Department made an arrest on suspicion of assault on a foreign man in his 40s on a street in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward for allegedly hugging and knocking down 36-year-old former AKB48 member Haruna Kojima. She didn’t get hurt.
At around 9 p.m. on Monday, the man allegedly embraced Kojima and knocked her down near the “Scramble” crossing in the Udagawacho district of Shibuya Ward, according to the police. He has acknowledged that “I did grab her arm.”
Just as Kojima was leaving a nearby event venue, he was attacked. The man was subdued on the spot by a bystander, and the man was handed over to the police, who arrived after receiving an emergency call. It is believed that the foreign man is a Kojima fan. The incident is under investigation by police.
